Sharing the Love!

Last Friday I had the privilege of visiting Middle Kinglake Primary School which was one of the schools that was burnt down in the recent Black Saturday bushfires here in Australia. I was there with my son, Sean, to photograph some of the students who had just been given some of the gorgeous quilts that have been made and donated to the victims of this devastating bushfire.

It was a delight to meet the students who were all so bubbly and sooooooooooo excited about receiving their very own quilt which had been donated by quilters from all over the world. They were all so thankful and you could just tell that those quilts are going to be absolutely loved. Every single student and teacher at the school received a quilt.

They wanted me to tell you how thankful they all are for the lovely quilts and other handmade stuff that they have received. IMG_4476

Here are a few of the photos , you can see the rest over here - maybe you might see your quilt that you donated.

How wonderful Cathy.

I was watching the 4 Corners ep. last night on how things happened on that day from a Marysville perspective, and was gripped with the terror of it all over again.

I am so glad to see those children wrapped in love from all over the world.

It just show the power of the homemade to show you care.

It warms my heart to see those lovely quilts, that I know were indeed made with love, wrapped around the shoulders of the children. They are more than blankets and fabric but are truly love & blessings.

Thank you for sharing, Stay Cozy, Carrie

It's getting very chilly up at Kinglake now, so those snuggly quilts are even more beneficial than just a generous gesture. Great of you to deliver them and capture the love (through Seans great pics.)

Wow, what a fun (well, sad too) and ambitious project. Those kids are adorable in their quilts -- how nice to know that they will be truly appreciated.

these quilts were given out by Jan Mac and co on behalf of all the quilts they have and are co-ordinating via the oz comfort quilt blog. http://ozcomfortquilts.blogspot.com they are still collecting quilts and need a whole lot more to give to everyone affected so any donations would be very welcome.
