What I have been up to

Finally, the bags have been delivered - 12 little totes for Miko - (they are roughly based on Rosalie Quinlans' pattern - Naomi's Little Carrybag) -

For the ruffles on the top - I used a 'ruffle' attachment on my machine. It sure makes gathering and ruffling so much easier. I highly recommend it - it even pleats for you as well and is completely adjustable.

I thought I would show you a couple of shots of my workroom (it got a bit of a cleanup and a lot of stuff went to the op shop). I have to share this room with the boy's tv - but at least during the daytime it is mine all day. It overlooks our backyard and has lots of natural light.

I have this little word above my sewing machine -

Jade, check out my fabric stash - and that is only about half of it. The drawers on the right hand side of the pic are all my scraps and patterns - underneath my workbench is the some more and then I have even more in a bank of cupboards. Now you know why I have a curtain to hide everything. It is so hard to keep fabric stashs tidy.

I love your craft room, Cathy! So much lovely natural light....and your fabric bins are very swoon-inducing. I can see you've got a massive stash. Wouldn't it be great to swap craft rooms for a day and just go nuts creating?! That would be the ultimate swap, I think. I love your ruffled totes, too. Some lucky little girls will be getting those for presents! Now you've gone and urged me to get a ruffler foot. I want!

WOW 12 totes; I'm struggling to get more than 1 done in a week. Give yourself a round of applause. Hey I'm liking that swap craft room idea Jade. You've inpsired me with with ruffle foot Cathy. Just bought one for my brother machine but haven't used it yet. Have a quilt in mind that's made up entirely of ruffles.

A ruffle foot??? I WANT one - is it just from the Janome shop? I LOVE all those little bags and yes you should definitely have an Etsy shop - those would be top sellers. How lucky of you to have such a nice space to work in - I would so love to have a look in those boxes. I keep jumping from one project to another and don't seem to be achieving a lot at all.

Your bags are adorable and I think we could probably all do with a copy of your keep calm poster.

Holy Cow -- you've been busy!!! Those totes are adorable -- I love the ruffles. Thanks for sharing your sewing area -- I hate talking about stashes 'cause like you said, they're just so hard to keep neat and tidy. Yours looks great!

Just brought myself a ruffler for my new machine. It just looked too cool, not to have one! Next the rolled hem and the bias tape foot. Lovely craft room, love the tool board.
