I'm So Excited ..

and yet I am also a little bit nervous.

Next Tuesday I am going to start working at Amitie. I am still pinching myself that I will actually be working there in the flesh at the very shop that I just love to visit and spend hours and hours. The times I have been there I have spent minimum two hours. Time almost stands still in there.

Just think of all the fabric fondling that I will be able to do, mountains of fabric - all without taking it home with a huge hole in my bank account. Instead, I will get paid to do it.

Life doesn't get much better than that (fabric speaking that is).

Not only am I so excited about landing a job at Amitie but I will also be working with my gorgeous blogging friend, Louise, who started there last week too. My role will be slightly different to Louise, - I will be making up samples for the shop and the shows. But I am sure Louise and I will be able to have a little bit of a catch up every week over a bolt of fabric or two.

There is only one thing that is bothering me, and that is it will take me about 40 - 50 minutes to drive there - but hey nothing is that simple, I will persevere, I promise you that, as I will be able to hear that fabric beckoning to me (I can hear it already). I don't think it will take me that long to get used to the drive and I know it will be so worth it in the end to be able to work with such amazing and talented people.

Anyway, for those of you who can't get to Amitie in the flesh - Jenny now has an online shop which is this link.

Wish me luck.

Have a great weekend.

Oh! How exciting!!! And lucky us too, 'cause we'll get to see all of your new creations -- won't we??? I laughed when I read that now you can fondle all their fabric and it won't cost you -- I'm betting a chunk of that money they pay you will be turned into fabric LOL!!! Have a great time -- how wonderful to see Louise too!

What wonderful news for you, Cathy. I'm so envious. My dream job/career would be to run my own fabric shop. You're almost there (without the stress of it)!

Congrats and good luck with the new job.
I'll be sure to say hi next time I pop in. Such a gorgeous shop - I'm tipping there'll be a whole lotta fondling going on!

Now that sounds very exciting. I've heard so much about Amitie. You'll need some extra-strong willpower to resist purchasing those beautiful fabrics!!!

Hi Cathy,
I was going to say that I hope that you enjoy your first day, but that's pretty much a given. Have fun.

And does the east link big road thingy help you? I have a friend who is working for them and she says June before it opens. Roll on June, I say!

How exciting, Cathy! It'll be almost like living in a fabric shop...okay, I'm positively green with envy now. OMG, all that fabric fondling! Well, I'll definitely have to try make it over there when we visit Melbourne this year.

Wow thats great. The travel thing is ok if you're organised. Download podcasts and set them up for the drive ect. The travel can actually be a good thinking and chilling time. Although if you're driving it eats into your pay. I'm working 10 mins from home (nr centre rd! Will say hi!)for the first time in 3 yrs. Can't say I'm any more organised! But am definitely noticing the petrol cost! but that said, its worth it to do what you love! Lifes too short to waste time in a crap job! (hence years of travel!)
Sorry anon but i've forgotten the password. It's obviously not my standard one!
