How to Solve the 'what's for dinner' problem ...

Just thought I would share one of my favourite websites with you. It has been my absolute saviour on quite a few occasions now.

I am just so hopeless and can never really plan anything ahead especially things like meals. The first thing the boys say when they come in from school is 'What's for dinner, Mum?". At this stage I haven't even thought about dinner, coz I am so busy sewing or blogging (much more important things than thinking about the dinner menu). So then the panic sets in wondering what in the world will I do with a fridge full of 'penicillan experiments' and four hungry males to feed. So now, I just log onto here and type in one or two of the ingredients that haven't yet turned into the experiment, hit the search button and lo and behold, all of these wonderful recipes come out.

They are all from the magazines Delicious, Good Taste, Food Ideas, Fresh (there could be more titles) so it is from a good range of mags. Click onto the one that takes your fancy, then hit print. Instant Menu!!!!

So now there shouldn't be any excuses for not having any ideas for dinner!!!!!!!!

Enjoy

Magnolia Square

I am so excited about this event that is coming up at the end of the week - from Thursday. I have been hearing about it for a few years now and have always wanted to go, but because it is so far from where I live, I just couldn't make it. Well, I will finally be able to attend this Friday. I can't wait to meet all the people there and see all the stuff they make and sell.

So check it out, and go if you can.

I have been tagged by my wonderful blogging friends Louise and Jade for this award. Thank you so much girls. I feel very honoured to receive it and to receive it twice is amazing.

Anyway, I really like this blogging thing. I feel like I have made such wonderful friends all over the world. It's great being able to connect to fellow 'addicts' (fabric that is) and know that there are so many of us tragics out there. I t really makes the world a smaller place. Wouldn't it be great one day if we could all meet in person?

Now I am supposed to tag another seven 'nice blogs' but as everybody has already been tagged, it seems a bit pointless me tagging anyone else. I really do think all the bloggers that I have had contact with are really genuine and nice people. So you are all tagged!!!! Woo Hoo!!!

Now, what will I blog about ........

Here I am, at a loss, not knowing what to write about. Usually, I never stop thinking about what I would like to write. But anyway, I will have a go.

I love reading blogs about other women who have similar lives and fetishes ie. (fabric, cooking, sewing, blogging, parenting, reading etc etc). It is almost voyeuristic (now that is a bigger word than wheelbarrow!!!) To read about what families like mine are doing on the other side of the world, what they are cooking for dinner, what they are making for their children - living life with similar issues and lifestyles. And we all have this 'blogging' thing happening which is binding us together.

One of my favourite pastimes is reading. I like to read every night before I fall asleep. I can read almost anything - but prefer not to read thrillers. My favourite book at the moment that I have read is The Kite Runner. It was brilliantly written and I have learnt so much from this book. I would love it to become a compulsory high school text book!!!

I have been involved with a Book Club for the past 7 years. There are about 10 of us that get together every month and review a book that we have just read. Sometimes we get 'duds' but then others are just fantastic like The Kite Runner. The faces in the club come and go but there are a few of us that are the original ones. I love being in a Book Club because when I joined - I was anonymous. I only knew one other person there. So, in a way, I am still anonymous as we don't mix socially aside from the club. In other words, our worlds do not collide. I guess, this blog is a bit like book club - anonymous. I can share my feelings about my little fetishes (see above) and people will not think that I am strange or imbalanced or totally nuts for loving fabric and having to have more and more. I guess it is a bit like a diary too - a lovely outlet to share ideas with.

Wow, sorry, I have been waffling on a bit. It all sounds so serious too. I promise I won't do too much more serious stuff.

I really am looking forward to getting to know a lot more people like me out there in 'blogland'

Okay, I have revealed my innermost thoughts, at least I am still anonymous ........................

I am not too sure about the rules of blogging I will try and insert a photo of something just to make it a bit more interesting.

School Days and The New Addition to Our Family

Well, it was Grandparents Day at the school today. So off we go. The excitement had been building all week. The mums all had to bring a plate as they were expecting quite a lot of people, and you know how much grandparents can eat!!!! (I don't eat much, you know, is what I often hear").

I thought I would be very clever and make something that would appeal to our more senior citizens. So I made the passionfruit sponge. Here it is on the table of other goodies at the 'spread'. (sorry about the bad photo - but it is really hard to make a table at a school morning tea attractive unless I am in charge and therefore everything would be totally OTT!!!!!)

Now to Introduce the New Addition to our Family

I must admit, I did have a little help with the sponge. My gorgeous G (husband of a very long time) gave me something for my birthday that I have been coveting for years and years - a Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer. I couldn't believe it. So, of course, showing him how much I appreciate it, I have been making everything that I can for him and the boys (whether they like it or not).

So this is, as you will now understand, why I had to make the passionfruit sponge for the seniors. It was effortless I must say - I cannot believe the difference in beating things. It does it in about half the time. As for meringues - yum - very, very quick and easy. So Tam, blue and brown will be fine!!!!

As for the sponge - it was all gone - not one little crumb - a very successful day!!!

By the way the seniors had a wonderful time with their grandkids - which is really why we had this wonderful day.

Well, it's happening. After much deliberation - I can't not be part of this wonderful world of blogging. I admit it - I am hooked. I just love reading about the lives of other like minded people from all over the world. I love the way information is shared - it makes the world seem like such a small place.

There are so many talented people out there.

Not that I have the time to spend blogging - but we will give it a try.

I am a very busy mum of three boys - my washing basket never gets emptied but as one consolation, I have finally employed an ironing lady. The boys eat so much - so they just love it when I get in a baking mood.

I also love taking photos of gorgeous things so hopefully I will be able to upload some of my favourite ones.

My very good friend is a constant source of support to me and my creativity. When I am doubting she is right there for me to encourage me that I can do it. Check out her gorgeous stuff!!! Just wish I had a little girl to put ribbons in her hair.

I finally had a quilt made for my bed - it has taken me so long to finish this one. I think I lost interest in it, anyway, I still have to bind it - but I think it looks quite pretty on my bed. It is from the seaside rose collection.
